PM Scholarship Scheme 2026: The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) is a central government scheme, launched in academic year 2007 by the Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, GOI. The scholarship aims to encourage technical and postgraduate courses for widows of deceased/ex-service personnel of Armed Forces. All the interested candidates who wish to pursue higher education or build a skill by opting a technical course must apply for this scholarship scheme. Through this scheme, boys are provided with a financial support of 2500 and girls 3000 monthly for an year . Candidates can pursue any technical or PG course such as (medical, dental, veterinary, engineering, MBA, MCA and other equivalent technical degrees. Who Can Apply for PM Scholarship Scheme 2026?
- Only students who have taken admission in the first year in the current academic year (excluding lateral entry) are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have scored at least 60% marks in their previous qualification (10+2 / Diploma / Graduation).
- The scheme is available only for dependent wards or widows of Ex-servicemen and Ex-Coast Guard personnel.
- Master’s degree courses are not eligible, except for MBA and MCA programs.
- A student can avail the scholarship for only one course.

Eligible Courses/ Degrees
The scholarship is applicable to students enrolled in first professional degree courses, including integrated programs such as engineering, medical, education, management, law, and pharmacy. These courses must be approved under the PMSS list and recognized by relevant government authorities like AICTE, NMC, or UGC.
For Integrated Courses
- The minimum qualification (MEQ) required is 10+2.
- For integrated (dual degree) courses, the scholarship is provided for the entire course duration, excluding the internship period, as per the approved PMSS course list.
Marks Percentage Required?
The minimum educational qualification (MEQ) varies depending on the course—for example, MBBS requires 10+2, B.Tech may require 10+2 or a diploma, and courses like B.Ed or MBA require graduation. To be eligible for the PM Scholarship Scheme, candidates must have at least 60% marks in their MEQ, calculated based on all subjects, including optional ones, not just the best scores.
Selection Process
Authorities review the applications and prepare a merit list based on priority categories (Category 1 to 6) and the marks scored in the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ). They also create separate merit lists for male and female students.
Steps to Apply Online for PM Scholarship Scheme 2026?

- Visit the KSB website and download Annexure 1, 2, and 3 from the PMSS section.
- Fill all annexures properly (use only the given format).
- Click on “Apply Online” and upload your passport-size photo.
- Register by filling required details (if not registered earlier).
- After registration, you will receive a Login ID and Password on your email.
- Activate your account using the link sent to your email.
- Log in to the portal using your credentials.
- Click on “New Application” and select PM Scholarship Scheme.
- Fill the application form and upload all required documents.
- Finally, save and submit (forward) the application form.
