PM Scholarship Scheme 2026: The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) is a central government scheme, launched in academic year 2007 by the Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, GOI. The scholarship aims to encourage technical and postgraduate courses for widows of deceased/ex-service personnel of Armed Forces. All the interested candidates who wish to pursue higher education or build a skill by opting a technical course must apply for this scholarship scheme. Through this scheme, boys are provided with a financial support of 2500 and girls 3000 monthly for an year . Candidates can pursue any technical or PG course such as (medical, dental, veterinary, engineering, MBA, MCA and other equivalent technical degrees. The minimum educational qualification (MEQ) varies depending on the course—for example, MBBS requires 10+2, B.Tech may require 10+2 or a diploma, and courses like B.Ed or MBA require graduation. To be eligible for the PM Scholarship Scheme, candidates must have at least 60% marks in their MEQ, calculated based on all subjects, including optional ones, not just the best scores.

Selection Process

Authorities review the applications and prepare a merit list based on priority categories (Category 1 to 6) and the marks scored in the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ). They also create separate merit lists for male and female students.
